About
I have a BA in guitar performance; I am a full time musician! My career has always been Music. I can teach ALL styles as well as lmprovization, reading, and composition. Emphasis is on enjoyment, learning only music that appeals to the student! I am actively employed as a playing musician in the Denver area.
I especially enjoy helping people grow in their humanity. Music is such a deep part of who we are as the human species and to see students grow and mature musically is extremely rewarding to me as a teacher. The development of a work ethic is so critical toward becoming a well rounded person. To become a good musician, one has to put in the work. The reward, especially a good self image, is a natural part of the music learning curve. I thank God each day for the gift of music!!! I have a performance degree in guitar, a minor in jazz improvization. I have been teaching and playing in the Denver area for over forty years. I am a full time musician; playing and teaching.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I request a list of ten to fifteen student’s favorite tunes. Then I download the list from iTunes. A cd of the tunes is given to the student. I then transcribe the tune in either tablature or notation ! Each week we work on a new favorite song according to the students interest and practice time! All transcription is done according to the students performance level and enjoyment! It has been a fun and very effective system for all for over forty years! For the more serious, I have a series of seven method books I use to teach reading , theory, and composition.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BA in guitar performance with a minor in jazz improv. I have played and taught guitar, bass and banjo in the Denver area for over forty years. I have played in all styles of bands: jazz, classical, blues, rock, country, pop, contemporary christian worship, folk, and bluegrass.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Tuition is based on $30.00 per one half hour lesson. All lessons are private one on one .
How did you get started teaching?
It was part of the guitar performance degree as an option. I've always been a good communicator, so it was an easy A.
What types of students have you worked with?
Everone from age five to an eighty-five year old, From the recreational' just for fun' to the panic stricken "help me pass my upcoming Juries" college student.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
J came to me a few years ago shy ,withdrawn, with a very low self image. No eye contact, one word responses etc. It has been a great source of pride to see him bloom into a happy well adjusted person and musician. His band is currently on tour this summer and really doing well on the concert circuit. His soloing is incredible and unique. He is still working on his guitar chops. Music and a great work ethic put his life on an upward trajectory. I am blessed to have been a part of it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
make sure your teacher has a degree in guitar performance and can teach you to read notation and not just tablature!!! Make sure that they have a musical career full time.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Where do I want to be on my guitar in five years?
