About

Robert Gale started playing piano at the age of 5. At age 7 he took up the flute and played in a boy’s marching band. By 10 years of age he added the piccolo. At age 14, Robert used money from his paper route to buy his first guitar, a year later his first keyboard. While in college he studied classical technique with world renowned conductor Dr. Antonia Brico. After college Rob became a road musician, performing in over 100 cities in 25 states. All the while he was adding new instruments to the show, including all the woodwinds, violin, viola, cello, drums, and bass.

In 1989 Rob co-founded American Music School with Jim McRae. He also found time to do three tours overseas, entertaining the U.S. military in 13 countries with his flute, saxophone, keyboard, guitar and fiddle. Rob has written over 50 songs, and dozens of solo piano pieces, including Beauty and The Parting. In 2002, he wrote a full length musical! At American Music School Robert gives lessons on 12 different instruments. Along with his wife, Margaret, (plus 5 children), he runs American Music School, while teaching part time at A.C.C.

Rob’s students range in age from 4 to 80 years. He likes to do duets with his students, often switching instruments 3 or 4 times. He has taught beginners, as well as some with 40 years experience. “The name American means melting pot, and this is represented in our students and staff. Rob is very proud of what we do at this school and you will be too!”
