Al creates a really welcoming environment thats easy and enjoyable to work in. He quickly worked out my current level and the direction I wanted to move in and tailored my lessons accordingly. Would highly recommend.

His patience and ability to explain the same issue from different points of view, and how he motivates you to keep on practising throughout the whole learning process.

I have been learning the electric bass as an adult student for a year, taking lessons from the beginning and I can say that Al is a fantastic teacher. The lessons are always fun and there is a good balance between improving technique, playing songs and learning theory. Als feedback and advice during the lessons has helped me so much to improve my playing and learn to play pieces that initially seemed out of reach for me. It was not easy finding a teacher who mainly plays the bass (instead of playing the guitar and also teaching bass) but Als background really shows during the lessons and I am really glad that I did.

Al has taught me so much about music in the short period of time Ive taken lessons with him. Al has such a way of breaking down anything Im having trouble with and rearraging it to a totally disestable bit of information. He always answers my silly questions (of which there are many) and is totally personable and freindly. Couldnt reccomend him more!

Al is a brilliant teacher and musician, who was recommended to me by a local music college. He is very perceptive in recognising the exact technical and musical challenges you need to address as a student. I worked with Al over a 1 year period where he helped me get my playing from grade 2 up to grade 5. He is extremely supportive and encouraging, also having the flexibility and intuition to work with individuals’ different learning styles. He introduced me to numerous useful resources. It was also important for me to have a teacher who is a busy gigging musician, and had a high level of technical training. Definitely get him onboard!

AL is a knowledgeable, relaxed trainer. He mixes music theory in with focussed lessons. I feel like I am being trained to be a musician as well as a bass player which is great.
