About
Since graduating from CU with an art degree, I have made it my pursuit to take as many art classes outside the “norm” as I possibly can. In these workshops I have learned masterful skills and techniques not taught in typical schools or universities. My teaching method has evolved from me taking my own classes and figuring out what works for me. And I will say, my classes are not like everyone else’s. I invite my students to dig a little bit deeper in themselves- to find that place without judgment or expectation, and then just paint what is wanting to come through. As artists- our purpose is to express ourselves in the most authentic way possible- by teaching this way I allow my students to step out of a place of control and resistance- and into a relaxed state of flow where beautiful paintings happen. I provide instructions about how to beginning and developing a painting- and I encourage my students to push their paintings a little beyond what they’d normally do- this gives tremendous room for growth and improvement. My students leave my classes filled with artistic knowledge and confidence that they can take with them outside the studio
I am as passionate about teaching artists as I am of art itself. I absolutely love seeing students step out of their comfort zones and paint something they may have not had the confidence to paint on their own. Seeing progress as my students start to understand and improve is so rewarding- and seeing them excited about what their painting- being proud of something they did is the best feeling I could have.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The most important thing for a new student, is for me to discover what the student wants out of the class... maybe they have certain goals or expectations. This will help to navigate how and what we will be doing together. I then like to see where the student is as far as painting experience. If they are a beginner, I like to start with the basics, building a good foundation while still having lots of room to explore. If they are a more advanced, experienced painter I like to teach more advanced techniques- usually specific to what goals the student has. The class is for them, so I want them to get the most out of it as they can.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from CU in 2016 with a degree in studio arts. Since then, I have traveled around the country attending workshops taught by masters. What I have learned through the accumulation of learning and developing my own skills, is something I believe is worth sharing. I have a passion for teaching and enhancing one’s artistic confidence. Having attended a university, I was exposed to the typical rigid teaching style, which brands artists to have very similar tastes and styles. I want to break away from that, and I encourage my students to explore their own styles and individuality, while still maintaining the skills and techniques of a practioned artist.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes I do. Standard is $45/hour, and at a minimum of 2 hours ($90/class) this provides enough time to really get something out of the class. I provide all materials for an extra $5 per lessons. I also offer group lessons at a minimum of 2 people. For each person over 1, price drops $5/hour. So for 2 people it’s $35/hour, 3 is 30/hour etc... until 5 at $20/hour which is the lowest I will go. If you’d like to possibly book multiple lessons at once, I am opened to working out discounts and or payment plans.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in 2017, after a few friends had requested I teach them. I agreed, and discovered how much joy it brought me. I was really good at it too! My students told me they learned so much in such a short period of time. I decided this is something I could really do
What types of students have you worked with?
I’ve worked with all kinds. Young children ages 3-5, a little older too around 7. Adult students with little to no experience, and students with experience. I think I could teach just about anyone who is willing to learn
