About

I am an active teacher and performer. Most recently I served as Visiting Artist Instructor at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst for the 2018-19 year, teaching saxophone lessons to music majors and minors as well as instructing the methods course for music education majors. I also have experience teaching all levels, having student taught K-12 in New Hampshire, and teaching private lessons throughout my collegiate career. Through my teaching and performance experiences, I can cater to the needs of any student.

I am a classically trained musician who has presented recitals at conferences and festivals across the Northeast and Mississippi. As a classical saxophonist, I have a depth of knowledge of repertoire and music ranging from Baroque to cutting edge contemporary works. Along with my classical training I have a firm grasp of the fundamentals of jazz, having performed in big bands in New Hampshire and recorded an album with the University of New Hampshire’s top jazz ensemble.

Since moving to Colorado, I have enjoyed becoming a part of the Fort Collins community and exploring the beautiful country around me. I hope to put together a recital of old and new solo saxophone works for the community in the near future.

Nick was a very engaged teacher. He always makes sure to ask how things are going before we get into any sort of playing. He cares about each individual student and spends quality time assesing what we need work on and telling us how we can get closer to achieving our goals.

    Frequently asked questions

I love getting to know each student and getting a feel for their level and what their goals might be. Lessons are designed not to meet my expectations as a teacher, but to help the student acheive their individual goals.

I have worked with beginners through college level saxophonists and immensely enjoy working with students at all levels.

Find a teacher with whom you get along with and whose personality compliments yours. You can learn a great deal from any teacher, but the most successful collaborations come from teachers who best understand their students.
