I LOVE teaching! I've been teaching flute students for over 30 years. From beginners to advanced, kids and adults.

I have a bachelor's degree in Flute performance and have played professionally in symphony orchestras, chamber groups and jazz and pop bands, too! I've recorded some cartoon music for Disney and was lucky enough to tour Europe with a wind ensemble.

I make sure my students get a great foundation in flute technique, but additionally, my students have fun playing many different styles of music, not just classical.

I love watching students work hard and reach their goals. It's so gratifying to see students light up when they can finally do that "thing" they've been working toward.

    Gretchen is highly experienced, and she has really helped me to up my game as an adult flutist. I have struggled particularly with proper breathing technique, and she has been very patient (but very firm!) about helping me to overcome this problem. She does not skip the basics, but she provides many opportunities to try new songs and styles that I might have never selected for myself. It is never a boring lesson with Gretchen! I highly recommend her.

    My daughter was really getting frustrated with flute because she couldn’t play some high notes like high E and F#. Gretchen not only helped her learn to play the higher notes but she’s loving flute again. Gretchen has really helped her overcome her challenges and be a better player.
