I've been a working Bass Player/Lead and BG Vocalist for almost 50 years. I play 4 and 5 string Electric Bass, as well as Upright Bass, Guitar, Slide Guitar and Harmonica. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music, and for 13 years I worked in a public school system as a State Certified Teaching Assistant, doing one on one and small group instruction with kids with learning disabilities.

I try to be knowledgeable about most styles of music - I studied Jazz in College, and have played in many duos, trios, quartets and Big Bands. I grew up playing Rock and Roll in bar bands, Funk and Soul bands, was in a Reggae band for about 5 years, and also played Modern Country as well as Classic Country, Celtic and Folk music. I also had a small recording studio for a number of years, and recorded and produced CDs and demos for local artists. Some years back, I also wrote and recorded music for TV shows like Law and Order, Friends, CSI, some MTV reality shows, Local PBS documentaries, and co wrote music on some CDs that were released nationally, one charting at #4 and a single that did about as well.

My approach to teaching is to help the student find the direction to become the player that they want to be. Not everyone wants to be a professional, some players just want to understand what they're playing a little better. Others want to reach a next level, and need the discipline and focus to get there.
