Jean-Pierre is a phenomenal piano teacher who really has a true passion for music. He is endlessly patient and persistent - If you want to learn something, he’ll find a way to teach it to you. Its rare to find such a skilled music teacher who can adapt from teaching the smallest fundamental details to the highest philosophical aspects of music. With Jean-Pierre, you are no longer just learning and playing the pieces, you are fully experiencing the music. My lessons with him, and his great sense of humour, were always a highlight. I cannot recommend him enough.

I have watched my son progress over the last 6 years from an average piano player to a brilliant piano player. I can positively attribute this to his outstanding piano teacher, Jean Pierre. Being a pianist myself and coming from
a musical family - JPs passion, care, dedication to pupils and attention to detail together with his absolute love for teaching piano has put my sons piano playing on another level of excellence!

The Impact that Dr Calitz has had on me as both a musician and a person has been immeasurable. His patience and kindness coupled with his incredible skill have made him an incredible teacher and wonderful person to play alongside whenever he has accompanied me. His drive and desire to always better my playing have made him incredible to learn from and his calming presence has meant that performances with him have always been a pleasure. His personal and caring nature have also made him a wonderful mentor as well as a teacher and he has instilled both confidence within me whenever I play and above all, a deep love for the music that I am playing. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be half the musician I am today if not for Dr Calitz’s incredible input!

Jean-Pierre is truly a unique teacher. His highly personal, practical approach to the teaching of music makes the process of learning both enjoyable and fascinating. His passion for music is evident in his teaching, prioritizing the talents and interests of his students rather than imposing a conventional, one-dimensional syllabus. His skills as a pianist are unparalleled, and my experience playing the cello together with Jean-Pierre (as my accompanist) have been beneficial to my own sound and personality as a musician. Furthermore, as I myself have learnt to play an instrument largely through the use of Skype lessons, I can say with utmost confidence that working with Jean-Pierre through an online medium will both be a worthwhile and enriching experience. Jean-Pierre is by no means a traditional music teacher; rather he is a dedicated and passionate embodiment of what modern music teaching should be!

Jean-Pierre has taught my son piano for 7 years from the age of 7. With his encouragement and skilled teaching, my son participated in many eisteddfods, achieving numerous Diplomas and winning several trophies, making it through to the semifinals of some of the most prestigious national competitions. Jean-Pierre prepared him immaculately for performances and exams and enabled him to pass ABRSM exams Grades 1 to 7, all with distinction.
In addition, he has taught both my son and daughter (a violinist) music theory with the utmost patience and dedication, ensuring that their understanding of music theory and background is rounded. He has at all times been absolutely dedicated, professional, nurturing and devoted to them as his students, providing outstanding technique as well as moral support in all matters Musical.

I've always been passionate about teaching and it has always been a part of who I am as a person and as a musician.
Everything from 4-year-olds to adult beginners to national competition winners to play-for-joy pianists. I also LOVE to teach music theory! My students joke that I'm a theory geek.
