About

As a teenager, I always wanted to capture every moment with her friends. At her core, Van Houten is an artist. She says, “I don’t really consider myself as a photographer. I am more like an artist in love with the creative process.” She has worked with clients on a national level. Van Houten has a keen eye for new talent, and has shot models featured on campaigns such as: TLC's What Not to Wear, West Point Military Academy, and Against All Odds urban clothing apparel and product shoots for HSN, QVC and Amazon.

Van Houten is the founder of a portfolio building group called the Hudson Valley Creatives (www.hvcreatives.com) made up of local models, hair and make-up artists, designers, photographers, and actors.

In 2013, a variety of her work was displayed in the vestibule of the Minneapolis Convention Center. Van Houten has also been published in multiple magazines throught the years and sold her work to private collectors throughout the country.

Some of her awards include:

2018 HUDSON VALLEY HERO AWARD-Named me Wonder Woman of the Hudson Valley for my work in mentoring new photographers, models, makeup artists, stylists etc...

I really enjoy teaching others. I remember when I stepped out of the studio and learned more conceptual photography. I learned from working photographers. I found that every photographer has their own way of doing things which creates their style. I even learned alot of tips from the others. My passion is to create a Concept then- I prefer to build my set from the bottom up. I am very strong in paying attention to details.

I went to school and learned from working photographers. I have to say I learned more from those in the field than I did in college.. College was the basics not the tricks of the trade.. smile
