Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to evaluate, the tailor a lesson plan for each studet according to age, needs, desires, technique. In addition to focussing on the students stregnths and desire of what to learn, I also make sure theory and music essentials are coved.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a double Bachelor degree in Music Education and Percussion Performance from Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University. I jave studied with an all-star list of world famous performers and educatores, ranging from orchestral to jazz and rock. I have a performance record from Ronald Regan to National tours, and local.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Monthly tuition 30 minutes = $118.00 per month
Monthly tuition 60 minutes = $224.25 per month
Monthly tuition is the same for months with 4 lesson weeks or 5 lesson weeks.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching privately in 1976 while a high school student, helping some middle schoolers. I went to school for music education, and hab=ve blended my performace career with my passion for teaching and sharing drum/percussion with students of all ages.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have been fortunate enough to work with students of all ages from 3.5 years old to 80 years young. I work well with students of all abilities, regardless of circumstances. I am experienced with special need students physically or otherwise.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Study privately with an instructor. On line videos are GREAT, but are not able to see, hear and react to your progress, or performance. Studying with a teacher provides many sslient benefits and features.
