Ken Hyne Softball Lessons On Life
About
I have played and head coached men's fastpitch softball and have coached girls and women's fastpitch softball for 25+ years. I LOVE teaching the game to the girls, working with the parents on the role they can play in working with their children, and watching steady improvement from the very young to when they are ready to play in college. I focus on teaching not only the skills necessary to maximize their potential but to also understand the game as if they are a coach on the field. And I am passionate about relating the game of softball to their everyday lives and relationships outside the white lines. Over 100 girls I have coached have played in college at all levels and I take most pride in watching every team I have coached become significantly better by year end. While currently the Varsity Head Softball Coach at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, CT, I started the first GOLD team in the first travel softball organization I was affiliated with, have coached at high level travel programs and also at the little league level. I believe EVERY girl has hidden inner talent and my goal is to have them reach the potential they set out to accomplish while striving for their "One Moment In Time". I have coached travel while holding down senior management positions which previously prevented me from coaching in high school and college but now that I have "retired" from the 8-5 full time corporate world I want to fully commit to bringing my love and passion for the game of softball to as many young girls and families as possible.
I am married to my wife Lynne with two beautiful daughters, two amazing grandchildren, all of who reside in CT and our current forever dog Jazzy. I played college baseball at Drew University having started every game in my four years at Drew. I am a huge fan of just about all sports with my "favorites" being softball, baseball and college basketball (preference for the lady Huskies). And my oh wow fact is that I have completed 12 marathons including the NYC marathon five times.
