I am a full time professional harpist and Juilliard graduate with a passion for the harp and sharing it with students of all ages and levels. I have a busy teaching studio in Wilton, CT where I enjoy working with students of all different backgrounds and interests. I am also an adjunct Professor of Harp at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. My students have won awards for harp performance from the National Federation of Music Clubs, the American Harp Society, the Stamford Symphony, the Schubert Club of Fairfield County, St. Paul’s School in London and Manhattanville College. A number of my students have participated in area youth symphonies. I am also the Founder and Director of the Elyrica Summer Chamber Music Program, now in its twentieth year. This week-long event features harp ensembles of various levels and sizes, for all levels, with everyone making music and having fun together. I have worked with Arts for Learning of CT performing extensively for schools and I am also a Vice President of the CT Chapter of the American Harp Society.
I began the harp at the age of seven, and I was a scholarship student at The Juilliard School where I received my Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Harp Performance with master Harp Teacher, Susann McDonald. I have great training to pass along to my students. I was presented in my New York Debut in Carnegie Recital Hall as a winner of the Artists International Competition. I have appeared in concert throughout the United States, performed at the World Harp Congress in Paris, France, and Seattle, Washington, played for the Prime Minister of Ireland, Queen Sirikit of Thailand, and other dignitaries. I am a founding member of the Irish music group “Themselves”, and the Fontenay Chamber Players, and I am also the principal harpist with The Bridgeport, Norwalk and Ridgefield Symphonies. My CD "Sounds of the Seine" with flutist Donna Milanovich is available on the Delos International label.
Wendy is so easy to get along with and I enjoy being her student. I am a Beginning-in-the-Middle Adult Student and I have learned more than Harp playing. I have learned a great deal more about music in general from her.
My daughter has been enchanted with the Harp since she was 9 years old. Wendy had been recommended to my daughter from her school music teacher. Now that my daughter is 16 years old and has been mentored by Wendy for the past several year my daughter has become very proficient with playing the harp, reading music and has an appreciation of classical music!! Wendy has been very patient, encouraging and has given my daughter the confidence and skill to play in the Western CT Youth Orchestra. I highly recommend Wendy. Rich S. Ridgefield CT
Wendy is incredibly supportive and encouraging while fully understanding my objectives as an adult harpist pursuing this for pleasure.
Wendy has been a harp teacher for both our daughters (11th and 8th grade) for over 3 years. First and foremost, Wendy is an exceptional harp player and music teacher. She has outstanding ethics and her passion for harp, discipline, and her patience is exemplary. Both our daughters have developed their love for harp in large part due to Wendy's teachings. Wendy also takes a very active role in organizing performances which keeps the motivation of the students going and keep them excited with the public performances. In summary, with our daughter's experience and ours, we would highly recommend Wendy. Thanks.
I frequently meet for a trial lesson at my studio. I have student harps available for rent to get you started. I also have lots of harp music here with a wide variety of choices. I enjoy finding the music that each student enjoys and making the lessons fit their interests.
I have a Bachelor and Masters degrees in Harp Performance from The Juilliard School.
