I offer personalized learning experience for both one to one and small group workshops.
I studied photography in masters workshops, University of Connecticut (Storrs), Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, CA) and assisting top professionals in Los Angeles and New York.
A lifetime of experience and a diverse background in photography, both fine art and commercial, has allowed me to help many students with varied photographic interests and goals.
I have more than 25 years as a passionate working professional with considerable published work in editorial, corporate communications and advertising, have exhibited my personal work in galleries and taught photography the last 18 years at the Community College Level in Connecticut at both Norwalk and Naugatuck Valley.
I have lots of wonderful evaluations from students over the years, a testimonial to my "laid back" yet comprehensive teaching style.
I have been a judge at numerous camera clubs and exhibitions in Wilton, Norwalk, Westport, Stamford, CT.
My taste in music and photography is eclectic. I'm a fan of many styles and techniques. Same with people.
Much of my personal work focuses on people/portrait, lifestyle, photojournalism, landscape and abstractions.
I enjoy skiing, cycling, paddling and sailing. I'm an avid fly fisherman/consevationist practicing #catchandreleace #Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited Board of Directors.
I enjoy meeting new people, helping them grow, fulfilling their photographic needs.
I enjoy the many challenges of problem solving and the joy of finding new ways of expressing myself visually.
I enjoy discovering the world around me, how subtle or dramatic changing light can affect what we see and how we feel.
I am very grateful for this journey, the doors it's opened, the people I've been privileged to meet and the places and spaces I've seen.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Having students share their photographic knowledge, experience, and goals are essential. Also knowing the equipment they own, their understanding of the capture process, the post process, which of the various genres of photography they are interested in. Or more simply stated what they want to capture/achieve.
Most students have gear however some want advise on purchasing new cameras, lenses, flash.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The school I chose, Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena, CA, is famous and highly respected in the photographic community. I received advanced placement based on my portfolio and after a semester I was awarded a competitive scholarship which I maintained for the duration of my studies. Art Center has a very small staff primarily for first year students. Most of the teachers above entry level classes, are working professionals, top photographers & art directors in LA. That was a great experience and had incredible valuable for me as an aspiring photographer. I have adopted that roll as a working professional photographer and photography educator. I have been teaching, locally, at the Community College level since 2000, 22 years.

I offer private, one to one, lessons as well as small workshop sessions with 3-6 students.
Pricing varies on length of time per lesson and number of lessons booked.
How did you get started teaching?
After graduating from University of Connecticut, some wild sailing adventures, I found myself living in Stowe VT for 6 years as a ski and advertising photographer. I was getting great feedback but knew there was so much more I needed to learn so I returned to CT and began taking master classes at the Photographics Workshop in New Canaan. This was a great experience and a wonderful exposure to master fine art photographers from all over the globe. Eventually I was asked to teach.
I enjoyed teaching and soon expanded teaching to several other programs.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've had serious and not so serious, English speaking and English as a second language from all parts of the world, every ethnicity and nationality.
I've worked with kids from 2nd grade through high school and adults from 20 somethings, young moms to retired professionals.
