About
I have spent a lifetime in the arts, from my earliest experimentations with pencil drawing to developing a mastery of Oil painting, sculpture, theatrical design and then a career in illustration, graphic design and animation.
I pride myself on being a patient and compassionate teacher who cares deeply about my students as they discover their talents and passions. I try to make every lesson completely focused on their enjoyment and sense of accomplishment.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I generally like to speak first on the phone or in rare cases do a FaceTime session. I’ve always asked them to send me some examples of their work if they have any so I can understand the level that they have achieved so far. I also asked them the kind of subject matter that they most love to work with and whether they have given themselves a working space inside their home. If we click I will set up a visit so that they feel completely comfortable in their own environment. I also try to downplay expectations and focus rather on the joy of making art, making sure they understand That I am There to give them encouragement, impart skills and experience and most importantly Be a resource for their growth as an artist.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked as a professional artist, graphic artist and illustrator and taught for 10 years At a local university. I have worked with some of the great artists of the 20th century including Erte, Felix de Weldon And the sculptor Isaac Witkin. I have also worked in theater and the entertainment industry for many years so I have a comprehensive understanding of how the arts relate to one another. I find this is especially important these days where the lines between disciplines are blurry.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I generally try to tailor my lessons to what the market will bear and what the student is capable of paying, But I generally charge $40 an hour and up which needs to include travel outside of certain radius. I do not feel that painting can be taught over the Internet and I think there’s a certain intimacy to watching The student directly. I also make myself available by phone or FaceTime to students who want to get encouragement in between lessons
