A Note Of Flute
About
I am a seasoned musician with several years of experience teaching flute. My students have ranged from beginner to advanced students. After completing my Masters in performance at the Hartt School of Music, I auditioned with an premier Army band and served 15 years as a fife instrumentalist with The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. This has augmented my skills and can potentially be helpful to a student.
The biggest reward to teaching is witnessing the confidence and success of a student. I am so lucky to be apart of someone elses growth and help further students to meet their personal goals. Along with those rewards, comes more joy for both the student and the teacher.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For an initial lesson I will make a pre-assessment of what the student already knows. This initial meeting is free. After that initial consult we will work on fundamental issues and work from there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor and Master degree in flute performance. I have over 20 years of teaching experience.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be prepared to commit to the process of learning. This includes regular practice and understand that this is essential to being successful.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Always think about what your goal is before going to your first lesson. This will help me determine what materials to use and help you better reach your goal.
