Allison’s Flute Lessons
About
Allison is a professional based in the Washington, D.C. area. She has been playing the flute for 21 years and has performed in a wide range of ensembles, including orchestras, wind ensembles, pit orchestras, and marching bands. She also competed in a number of state and regional competitions in high school, in addition to taking about 10 college-level music classes at the University of New Hampshire.
As a child, music was Allison's way of expressing herself and calming her mind. She is passionate about being able to share that skill set with rising flute players. During high school she tutored some beginner flute players at a music camp.
Please contact Allison if you have any questions! I look forward to working with you.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would like to assess each student to determine the best plan for his or her teaching. I think going back to the basics is very important so I put a lot of emphasis on learning and memorizing scales. I think it's important for each student have a piece of music to work on each week.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing the flute for 21 years. I played in elementary, middle, high school and college. I took private lessons for about 4 years and competed in various completions across Connecticut. I also spent a semester of college majoring in music education.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For remote lessons I charge $40 per hour. For in person it is $55 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
This is my first time teaching in an official capacity! I have volunteered at band camps for elementart students -- but that is it.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly beginner to intermediate students.
