Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
A short interview, getting to know you, your desires and artistic goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a full time artist with a studio practice in Washington, DC. Sanaa Design has been in operation for 10 years, and I specialize in paintings, murals and wall sculptures.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all ages and backgrounds.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My all time favorite art lessons are the ones I take to Robin's Nest Orphanage in Montego Bay Jamaica. Students of all ages take part, and adults oftentimes join in on the fun. This particular program has been ongoing since 2016.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the teacher you select shows interest in guiding you to your specific goals. One who listens first, then teaches.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Think about what type of artist you'd like to be, and the message you hope to convey through your work. Gather photos of pieces that really move you, and be ready to explain why you're drawn to that particular piece. If you're simply looking for something therapeutic, that's great too.. just say so!
