What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The light is the magic to great photos. In my first meeting we will cover dealing basic lighting senarios and I will work beside you, and explain all camera setting and menu options. This hands on experience will jump start your piccture taking.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a over 45 years of working in the field in the USA and countries around wolrd, doing editorial and travel photography, as well as teaching photo seminars around the U.S. I have been the photographer of over 40 Insight Travel Guides and been a National Geographic contract photographer since 1991.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My price is an hourly rate of $100 with a 1 hour minimum. The first lesson of an hour is discounted to $80.
How did you get started teaching?
While working at National Geographic I was asked lecture and teach at area camera clubs. My lectures were about location lighting tips to aspiring photographers. A number of photo photo assistants who worked with me became very successful photographers.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was invited by the Gujarat, India Tourist board to represent the Society of American Travel Writers and Photographer, where have been a memebr for 25 years.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Know your equipment, can't emphasize this enough. New cameras can frustrating. Remember todays camera are really a computer with a lens. If you shoot on auto you're only using fraction of its creative potential. Look at and and analyze pictures that you like. Ask yourseld how did they take that photo, what lens did they use, how was it composed.
