I offer expert training for brass students by a college educated professional performer. I have a Masters degree in Music Performance, and over 40 years of playing experience, including several years on the music staff at Walt Disney World in Orlando. I have teachng experience in elementary, middle, high school, and college level. I perform regularly in a variety of ensembles.
In addition to teaching brass methods, I'm an experienced music arranger, and teach music theory, often as an addition to your brass studies (optional).
Finally, I lead an 11-piece professional variety dance band that performs exclusively for black tie private events in the MD, DC, and Baltimore region.
If you are interested, but unsure about lessons with me, I offer the opportunity to a single lesson (or two) as a trial to see if you feel we are a good match.
I very much enjoy teaching bright and eager brass students of all ages (4/5 graders to adults). I love to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for playing a brass instrument (I personally am a trombonist). I also enjoy performing with other professional musicians. There's no greater thrill for me than making great-sounding music with other skilled players.

There is a getting acquainted period of time for each new student. It varies depending on the experience and background of each student, as well as his/her personal goals. My initial objective is to discover the student's skill level, as well as a little something about personality and nature.
Bachelor and Masters degrees in Music Performance. Over 40 years of professional playing experience, and one-on-one teaching with students from ages 9-10 up to and including adults.
At present (summer 2019) I charge $50 for a 40-minute* lesson. Students are required to pay for all lessons at the beginning of each month. A minimum of 24 hours is required for cancellations that lead to make-ups. I do my very best to accomodate scheduling changes.
*If students are well-prepared, I seldom stop teaching at 40 minutes, and often continue for 55 minutes or more.
Teaching is a natural outgrowth of my educational background, and my desire to share my own entusiasm for playing a brass instrument.
Trombone, bass trombone, trumpet, and euphonium (baritone).
My brass quintet recently played for the high school graduation of Sascha Obama!
Be prepared to listen carefully and learn, but mostly to work hard and enjoy the rewards that come from becoming a more skillful musician.
