Mike DeFilippis Music Lessons
About
I am an educator and composer who loves working with kids. I graduated from LIU Post (formerly C.W. Post) in 2014 with my Bachelor's in Music Education. At Post, I specialized on the trumpet with french horn as a secondary. I began teaching privately during my senior year of high school. Since then, I have taught 5th grade band, 6th grade band, 7th & 8th grade band, 9th grade band, and grades 9-12 high school band. In addition to trumpet, I teach french horn, clarinet, piano, and trombone privately. I began teaching trumpet privately during my senior year of high school after I decided that I wanted to be a music teacher. Since then, I've taught students privately from as young as six to as young as sixty on the french horn, clarinet, alto saxophone, and piano. I have also taught students with special needs and motor disabilities. I really do believe that I have made a positive impact on all of my students. I think it's just as important to have a great time as it is to experience a music education. I do encourage my students to participate in NYSSMA festivals and other solo festivals. It's an amazing opportunity and experience!
