I started coaching basketball at the middle school level 17 years ago at North Miami Middle School. While i was coaching at the middle school level, i started coaching the jv team at pace highschool in miami. I did that for about four years. I became the head coach at North Miami Highschool in 2011. I did that for two years while i was still coaching the middle school team. I took a year off from coaching and moved to Lake Worth. I am now an assistant coach at Palm Beach Central Highschool. I have a lot of patience and i love to see players skills develop. My sessions run to about an hour and 15 minutes. I firmly believe in teaching the fundamentals.

Coach J was very well prepared and organized, making the experience everything you want from a 1-on-1 but with the feeling it is based on a clear understanding of the coaching required to really build in your skills. The way Coach J would explain concepts, make corrections, and suggest new skills was masterful and kind. What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I usually start players off with skill drills to see what they can do. I start with the weak hand. Dribbling, lay ups, shooting and passing. Ladder footwork drills, pivots, and dribble combo moves.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have 19 years experience coaching at the middle school level in Miami. North Miami Middle girls basketball team was one of the best girls programs for the past 15 years. We won the jr orange bowl tournament 7 times. County champions 2 times and second place two times. We also had a very good jv program. We won lots of championships. Once i moved to lake worth i took a year off now im an assistant coach at Palm Beach Central Highschool for the coming 2023 24 srason.

I charge 50 dollars per session for each player.

How did you get started teaching?

I wanted to win games as a coach. You cant win games if you dont have skilled players.

What types of students have you worked with?

Mostly middle school aged players. And some 5th and six graders as well as Highschool players. Now I am coaching Highschool aged players again at Palm Beach Central Highschool.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Coming in second place last year the year after the covid restrictions.

Find a coach that has patience to teach the correct way.
