About this pro

I really enjoy teaching whether one on one or group settings. My goal is to get people inspired by art and to help them gain the confidence to experiment with art on their own.

I really enjoy working with groups as well as individuals. I get just as excited as my students when they accomplish a project.

Karalee really understands what her student needs and more importantly how to help them achieve that. She helped me improve both my drawings and how to use watercolors. Karalee is always positive in giving feedback to help me improve and very encouraging. And, she’s a very easy going person who knows how to create art—drawings, acrylics, oils, watercolors. I highly recommend Karalee as an art teacher.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I sttrive to help my students not only develop techniques but also to understand the reason why. I enjoy helping my students to observe the world around them and to incorporate that into their life.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Primarily sef-taught I have also studied under several regional artists.  I have been teaching for over 40 years.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I charge $30.00-$35.00 per session, which includes materials.

How did you get started teaching?

I actually was a student teacher in high school and started teaching professionally for a watercolor artist in my early 20's. I have been teaching for many years.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all ages. I do work with children OVER 12.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I have been working with the Manatee County Library system teaching their Creative Aging Series.  I love working with groups as well as individuals!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Think about what you want to learn.  I almost always start with a basic drawing class to not only get an idea of the students knowledge, but also to help the student understand the basics of composition, perspective, etc.  After that the sky's the limit!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What mediums do you teach? I teach all mediums; including drawing, watercolor, acrylic and oils.

What is your skill level? I start with basic projects and then as the student grasps the concepts then we can move on to more complex subjects.
