Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every student is different and their need for specialized training will be custom to those needs. They first must understand the photography triangle : F stops, Shutter speed, and ISO. Next how their particular camera functions. Depending on what type of photography they want to do will depend on what comes next in training. I do not do wildlife and bird photography training.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a photography instructor at SCF, State College of Florida. I have been President of the LWRDPC. I am currently running the "People Photography Focus Group" of LWRDPC.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I currently charge $50 per hour for lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I have a degree from Bowling Green State University and started as a teacher as a band and choral director.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have trained a number of current successful photographers in the Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Sarasota area through teaching members of the Lakewood Ranch Digital Photography Club and now their Focus Group.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Be willing to pay the price in terms of commitement to learn photography.
