I met LB 10 years ago at a local camera club meeting as I was interested in learning more about photography. I had just retired and he took me under his wing. He taught me indoor lighting and I accompanied him on wedding shoots. He not only taught me the best lighting, posing and camera settings but he pushed me to add my own creativity to the shots. He helped me gain confidence and within a short period I was running my own shoots and weddings. I owe it all to LB for teaching me the basics and enabling me to branch out on my own. A great mentor who is a first class teacher.

L.B. Blanchard is an experienced professional photographer with a broad range of experience ranging from studio portraiture to weddings and special events to corporate image making. He has held multiple leadership positions in the photography community, and is sought after as a teacher for emerging photographers. L.B. is committed to helping his students master the art and craft of photography and would be an excellent resource for Lessons.com.

I was in need of advice and instruction on how to improve my Portrait work and LB Blanchard was exceptional in helping me to achieve a much more professional and polished look to all of my images. He was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of Portrait Photography and was very adept at explaining things in a simple and easy way to understand. I highly recommend using him to help with all and any Photography challenges you may have.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Every student is different and their need for specialized training will be custom to those needs. They first must understand the photography triangle : F stops, Shutter speed, and ISO. Next how their particular camera functions. Depending on what type of photography they want to do will depend on what comes next in training. I do not do wildlife and bird photography training.

I have been a photography instructor at SCF, State College of Florida. I have been President of the LWRDPC. I am currently running the "People Photography Focus Group" of LWRDPC.
