Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I do an assessment to see where they are and to find out what they're strengths and weaknesses. From there I make a spreadsheet of everything. Then we work on all of it until their weaknesses are strengths and their strengths become stronger.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been playing basketball for basically all my life.I played basketball for Beach High, coached basketball for national gaurd explorers post 62 as an assistant coach for 4 years, I coached basketball for Douglas Park for 2 years, I coached for MDI (Motivation, Discipline, Integrity) for 2 years, I coached for Richmond Perrine Optomis for 4 years,
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $30 a session and each session is 2 hours long.
How did you get started teaching?
I saw there was a need for basketball to be taught the right way and i just fell in love with teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types. I've worked with children from all walks of life, races, and altheticy.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My Optomis team played a traveling team and for their first game they beat them for 40 points. The traveling team had been playing all year and we had been playing for 2 months. Though the second game we lost by 2 points they were still winners in my book.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Just make sure that they're teaching the basics, thet they're honest, and they are there for them and not there just to get paid.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
As far as basketball and their needs are concerned they should make sure what they want is really what they want because basketball is a game of repitition.
