Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want my students to achieve their artistic goals, for this reason, I have a 30-minute previous interview, I see their work samples, we talk about their skills and knowledge. I also like to know what my students want to do. I want each student to develop their own style and have fun in my classes.
In this way, I get an idea and a unique plan to teach each student.
I teach through practical projects, the student chooses that she is going to paint or draw, in that project she taught him one or two techniques. Example: composition, degradation, figurative drawing, colors, etc.
Brushes, canvas, pencils, and acrylic paint are included.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Advertising Design and Illustration in 1984 in my native country: Venezuela.
There I worked in renowned agencies, first as an illustrator/designer until I was promoted to Art Director and Creative Director.
Between the years 1992 to 96, I taught courses in Computer-Aided Graphic Design.
Between 2000 and 2012 I gave private tutorials of PhotoShop, Illustrator, Indesign, illustration, airbrushing, and painting to design students.
Macromedia 2001 Certification, Adobe 2005 Certification.
I have several awards for my work as a designer and illustrator in Venezuela.
Since 2015 I give classes and tutorials in the USA, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, painting, and drawing.
I have had various art exhibitions at galleries and art fairs in the city of Miami.
I have the experience to work with young and old students.

How did you get started teaching?
First, because of my work, I had to train my work team in new technology.

Then I opened a studio and taught there.
Finally students and people who wanted to draw called me because they needed to learn.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have given classes and training to:

Adults 21 years of age to over 60 years of age.
Design Students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently went to an exhibition of a friend: Sagrado Art, in Doral - Miami.
I liked the use of texture and objects that were used for religious paintings.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Talk to your teacher first about what he is going to teach you.
Evaluate if you want to paint like your teacher, or if you want your teacher to teach you to paint the way you like.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
If you start from scratch ... what is the first thing I'm going to learn?
What artists does your teacher like and why?
Is your teacher up to date with the new technologies?
