About

Josias was born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic – the country that produces the highest percentage of foreign-born MLB players. When he was 16 years old, a Red Sox scout told his mom he wanted to sign Josias. A few weeks after being signed, Josias called his mom telling her he wanted to go back...He did not know the language and did not have the right clothes for the weather. Josias' mom said, “you will only come back if you get released.” His mother's unwavering belief in her son and his ability gave him the inspiration he needed to push forward and never give up.

After 21 years of pitching professionally, he decided to dedicate his life to developing young players and teaching them the technical and mental aspects of the game. In 2004, he started teaching players and in 2011, Manzy and his wife Delmaris founded Manzy’s Pitching Farm.

He teaches every day, and continues to say that he played in Major League Baseball to do what he enjoys most...teaching kids.

He is loved by his players and their parents for not only being a skilled coach, but also for being an amazing coach, a caring mentor, and a Christ follower. See for yourself...

Manzy has been training my son off and on since he was 6 years old (he is now 15). My sons skills has evolved 1000% better. Manzy cares for his kids and will always give his time to make sure they get to their full potential.

    Frequently asked questions

While most baseball programs and recreational/travel teams focus on playing time regardless of ability and training, Manzy’s Pitching Farm takes a different approach. We believe in fully preparing our players to play at the best of their ability, regardless of age, before entering a team setting. And for more experienced players, our individualized training approach prepares them to face whatever comes their way on the field.

We focus on the lower body to teach players how to use their legs to leverage strength and stability. We also emphasize the mental part of the game. We always add encouragement throughout, because it is an important driving force to get the best from each student. We identify your student’s style. For example, some like to throw submarine or sidearm. Others have certain preferences, and we build on these. As Yogi Berra once infamously said, "Baseball is 90 percent mental; the other half is physical." One cannot hope to achieve their full potential without working on both the physical and mental game.

We focus on age 7 all the way up to college level.
(Upon parent request, we would consider ages 5-7 on an individual basis.)

We offer small group private training because we believe that players thrive better in a small group, guided by what they see others capable of doing. We offer Small Group lessons year-round, M-F 3-7p and Sat 9a-12p.
