About
I teach Drawing to all types of students who wish to develop their observational skills and drawing techniques. I mainly teach online classes in the categories of Figurative, Portraits, Landscapes and Illustration.
I teach drawing for students of both Traditional Drawing (Pencil on Paper) and Digital Drawing (iPad, Photoshop, and other Apps). Please don't contact me for "Painting" lessons.
Included in my lessons are plenty of "Life Coaching for Artists" advice, with a focus on balancing career goals and an Artistic Lifestyle. Many of my students are or were Professional Artists, Art Directors and Graphic Designers. I make a living providing these services to my clients, and there are many lessons in there for those who are curious about a career as an artist or designer.
I currently have a vibrant and dynamic career as both a working multimedia designer and as an exhibiting artist. I routinely show my traditional and digital works in galleries from upstate New York down to Miami, Florida. I have 5 decades of experience producing art in both traditional and digital mediums.
I have provided Creative Direction, Multi-media and Digital Design Services, Video, Photography, Animation, Illustration and Art Production to major corporations and entrepreneurial ventures through my marketing design firm Dangerous Media Productions (https://dangerousmedia.com).
Clients include: Disney, Scholastic, Miami Herald/Tropic Magazine, NYTimes.
I was most recently an adjunct professor teaching animation at SUNY Sullivan College, in NY. I have taught at the Art Students League of New York, where I presented several workshops using the iPad as a powerful new kind of Life Drawing tool.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to assess the students skill levels by looking over a portfolio of the students current "Best Works". Then after determining where the student needs to develop better skills, I begin a linear process of teaching the student how to improve with a set of drawing or painting tasks designed to refine the students' skills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a company called Young Mind Interactive (http://youngmindinteractive.com) that developes educational software tools - Apps and Games - that are designed to teach topics on multiple levels. My 10 years of research into educational game development has provided me much insight into how to imprint hand-eye skill sets on a deeper level than most traditional approaches to learning.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $75 per hour for teaching the traditional and digital skills that are critical to an artist's value in today's digital economy. Whether for one's own entrepreneurial endeavors, or as a way to build a set of skills to get a job in today's Marketing and Advertising agencies, I can teach this.
How did you get started teaching?
I have 4 brothers. I am a know-it-all who's got 2 sons. I am an artist/entrepreneur who has given dozens of interns the tools they needed to get fantastic jobs in New York City. Teaching is part of an experienced artist's responsibility.
What types of students have you worked with?
Very young kids all the way to geriatric patients. Professional artists who wanted to try the iPad for the first time, and beginners who wanted to learn how to draw figurative art as their first creative act.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
This is a Figurative Arts event I produced in New York a few years ago. An exhibit that included 3 days of Life Drawing for students:

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I only like serious stiudents. So if you think you just need a few lessons, I am probably not the Teacher for you. "Wipe On. Wipe Off." If you know what that means, you know I expect hard work from my students, even AFTER class is officially over.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your end goals. Why do you feel you need to learn how to draw, or paint, or produce videos, or develop websites? Will what you are learning help to make you more successfull as an Artist? Know what you expect from your teacher and the experience you are paying for. Make sure that is communicated to your prospective Teacher.
