This class will give you an overview of the basic principles essential to the structure of a good drawing or painting: Composition, proportion, harmony, tone and value. It will give you an overview of color theory and how to apply them in painterly fashion. You will work from a landscape photograph that you will choose with my guidance or frm a setup still life. We will use traditional oil painting methods. The elements of color, including value, temperature, saturation, hierarchy, complements, light, harmony and contrast will be explained.

How to observe nature
Tools, materials and how to handle and care for them
Composition- Blocking in, accurate drawing and proportion
This workshop is for beginners with some experience and for intermediates who want reach the next level. I will walk you through all you need to feel confident in starting, learn about materials, how to handle your paint, color mixing, and how to start and complete your works. This class can be taken multiple times.
