About this pro

Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to look at my profile! A few things that I believe make my services stand out: I love helping people reach their individual yogic goals, I incorperate the whole body concepts of "mind, body and spirit, within my classes. I personally have overcome a history of Post Traumatic Stress, Anxiety, Depression and many injuruies through the healing power of yoga. I strive to bring those same aspects to my clients.

I remember how vivid my choice to begin a yoga practice was, how intimidating it can be and how unflexible I was in the beginning. I create yoga classes to meet the individuals specific needs in order for my clients to feel comfortable during every process of adding to their yoga practice.

I work with the aging population and those with certain disabilities and I love it when they come and show me their increased flexibility or the excitement when their doctors noticed the healing power of yoga through their blood work. There are many skeptics (trust me, I was one!!) when it comes to yoga; although I am only a few years into my own personal yoga practice- I wish I had started sooner!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I strive to ensure that my new clients are comfortable and that I have a full understanding of their yoga goals. Most of my clients are completely new to learning yoga so the first meeting is usually a meet and greet to discuss certain goals or questions the client may have.

I teach individual yoga, small group yoga sessions and some workshops at Blissful Connections in Pinellas Park. If the client is more comfortable I am willing to teach at a local park if that is more accomodating.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Registered Yoga Teacher- 500 hrs which includes:
Chair Yoga- those with mobility difficulties or office work
Restorative Yoga- those who would like to incorperate more relaxing moments throughout their daily life- beggining with the mat!
Yin Yoga- Really listening to the body, allowing the body to relax and stretch through posters that are held for longer periods of time. Some poses can be created to increase energy to certain parts of the body.

Reiki Master- I have been a Reiki Practitioner for the past three years. Reiki has awakened me to a completely different level of compassion for my clients and being able to meet their needs on a spiritual basis. If you are interested in doing a yoga session with crystals, chakra alignments and sound therapy these can be added to the yoga or meditation classes as well.
Bachelors Degree in Alternative Medicine

How did you get started teaching?

I have always enjoyed helping people, even when I was a child I began to help people through their hard times. Once I was old enough I joined the military and did three tours in the Middle East along with 10.5 years of total service. I began my own personal yoga practice beause my therapist had recommended it for body work. After much convincing, I began to feel relief from the once a week practice- then I decided to become a yoga teacher. After nearly two years of teaching and doing my own yoga practice (along with healthy diet and meditation) I have overcome my battle with PTSD, anxiety, depression, low self esteem and fear of being out in public. I felt so liberated after the first six months of schooling that I knew this was part of my life path to help others along their way.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with clients that having debilitating diseases such as ALS, poor ciculation, neuropathy and many other health issues that arise with the aging population.

I work with the Veteran population on an invidual basis and also teach at the local VA Hospital on a routine basis.

I teach classes to those who choose to live a sober and clean lifestyle.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I am currently working on teaching yoga in the park more locally. I have a weekly class in Tampa that is outside and I absolutely love it and more importantly, so do my clients!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

There are many different pathways that bring us to yoga, whether its a physical ailment that we can no longer run, difficulty keeping our mind on task or possibly just stuck in a rut. I hope that you find the courage within yourself to find the people along the way that you resonate with. That is when the magic happens.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

-How can I best help you, live your best life?
