The Art Shack Miami

We believe the most important thing is to meet the student where he or she is, both in interest and level, as well as expectations. All students are different, and it is the job of the teacher to adapt to their way of learning and to motivate them with projects and activities they'll love. 

I work with a group of teachers that have different skills. They have all been trained in their area of expertise, and have subsequently been trained at The Art Shack to follow our student-centered, project-based style of teaching. Personally, I have a BS in Education and training in photography and sculpture, as well as knowledge of painting and other creative disciplines. Where I come from those who major in Education will learn about the psychology of learning, so when you know the basics of how people learn at different ages, you can adapt the classes to eachones needs.

We offer different courses, ongoing classes, and workshops. Pricing will vary from $24 to $73 per class, depending on the discipline and teacher to student ratio.

I have been teaching since I was 14 years old. I lived in a poor area of Buenos Aires but was sent to a bilingual school. Most of my neighbors didn't have access to language education, so they asked if I could teach English to their kids. I procured a small blackboard and got started with the lessons for kids. I never looked back. Teaching is a skill you build on each time you have a new student. It requires flexibility and empathy. 

I have worked with students of different ages, from 2-year-olds to seniors in a nursing home. My students have had different abilities and special needs. Some have been in private classes, others in small groups, and even large groups too. I have traveled to my students and they have come to me. I can turn any space into a teaching/learning space. Facilitating the learning process is a skill I keep building on every day.

For the last 12 years, I have been preparing students to apply and get accepted to the most competitive art programs, from schools at the elementary level to top colleges and universities. My students tell me I over-prepare them for the audition but I get them ready for their first year. My students keep coming back, even as graduates, to share and to work with me. This means that I have impacted their life beyond the skills they originally came to me for.

Avoid cookie-cutter systems/lessons where you need to adapt to the teaching style and syllabus. Look for a teacher that will see you, your interests, your expectations, your level, your style of learning.
