About
Hello! My name is Nick and I am a basketball skills trainer! I am an avid fan of the sport and have played it for 20+ years. I have a thorough knowledge of the game and I LOVE to teach kids, teens, and young adults how to improve their skills. I value hard work, determination, and perseverance and I always strive to be better at everything. I enjoy motivating players to work hard and helping them achieve goals. I will not give up on my students and I will personalize their benchmarks for skills training in order for them to be attainable and realistic.
As far as basketball is concerned, I have played the game since grade school. Point and shooting guard were my positions as I was a proficient playmaker and shooter. I've competed in AAU and rec leagues through high school and college. I have been a referee at the college level, a coach for high school boys (in which my team won championships 2 out of 4 seasons), and a Commissioner for a high school boys league. I am a certified Personal Trainer and have been training clients for almost 2 years.

I love seeing people accomplish goals. To be a part of the growth and development of a player's passion and skills is an honor and privilege for me. Hard work is often the bedrock for greatness and I am passionate about coaching and motivating a person to give their best and develop their skills.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, the first session is an initial assessment. I observe the player's abilities in the areas of shooting, dribbling, and passing as well as document their level of coordination and footwork through various drills.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played the sport at competitive levels, coached in different capacities for 12 years, and officiated for 2 years. I have been training athletes for about 4 years in total for basketball skills improvement and strength training.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The first session is $10. As a result of my assessment, I will customize a program that will increase the student's skills and abilities in the areas that I deem most needed for a duration I feel is appropriate. I will then communicate the terms of this program (days, times, duration, etc.) with the student and discuss how to move forward.
How did you get started teaching?
I started off volunteering at a basketball program for youth in the inner city of Lakeland, FL.
What types of students have you worked with?
Middle and High School aged boys primarily.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't settle. Find someone that will commit to and prioritize your training and that really cares about you and your progress.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How hard am I willing to work with my teacher as well as on my own to improve? What are my goals that are connected to my desires for improving?
