About

My teaching approach: I have a PhD, and am on the faculty at the University of Central Florida. I am also currently endorsed by Marshall amplification, Fender Guitars, Celestion Speakers, Seymour Duncan pickups, D'Addario strings, Hipshot Accessories and EX Gear. My influences are: Randy Rhoads, Ricardo Iznaola, Van Halen, George Lynch. My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's home studio. Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours: Saturday and Sundays during the morning, and evening during the week. Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment Selection. Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: Have them play what they llke. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: Technique first, then repertoire. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Most of my students come in two categories. First, beginning classical students preparing to go to La Villa or Douglas Anderson, and then continue while they are there. Those students often branch off into rock, my specialty. Then, students who are preparing to audition at the university level. I do teach adults as well, but mostly between the ages of 9 and 18.

Frequently asked questions

I ask the student to simply play what they have been working on, and take it from there.

I have a Ph.D. in music from the University of Salford in England, a M.M. from California State at Los Angeles, a teaching credential from California State at Northridge, and a B.M. from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, where I studied under famed pedagogue Ricardo Iznaola.

$60 for an hour lesson, $40 for a half an hour. I recommend hours unless the student is 4th grade and younger.

Some students take two hour lessons in two different styles (rock and classical most often) and I charge $90for those.

I have wanted to be a music teacher since I was in the sixth grade.  I started wtih brass instruments and moved to the guitar in the eighth.  I started teaching students while a senior in high school and have taught ever since.

All ages, styles and abilities.  I love working with beginners as the 'joy of discovery' is such a super thing to witness.

Recent endorsements, and my career at UCF.
