About
I am a recently retired U.S. Army Special Forces Master Sergeant and Department of Defense Threat Reduction contractor with over 35 years in military special operations, contracting, firearms and training. I've trained military, law enforcement and civilians all over the world in all tactical modalities. Firearms, Situational Awareness, Threat Assessment and unarmed combat are my focus for the civilian community. Putting the cost of learning to safely and proficiently handle dangerous situations into perspective. I have 35 years and thousands of hours actively in training, practicing, teaching and in real world application of my knowledge. I bring to the development of my skill sets, not only the best education our government could buy but proof of training in application around the globe.
I enjoy interacting with positive, upbeat people who desire to be proficient in their personal defense and firearms responsibilities.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Interview, assess and evaluate students skill level and what is needed to meet their goals the lesson plan development and implementation. Classes are non-judgmental and relaxing as possible. I run safe, educational and enjoyable courses.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
20 plus years in Special Operations as a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant and Team Sergeant. Multiple combat deployments. 5 years as a contracted combat advisor for a Governmental Intelligence Organization. NRA LE Shotgun, Pistol, Carbine, Armed Security instructor and Range Safety Officer. Glock Instructor and Armorer. Florida K license security firearms instructor, 30 plus years teaching Law Enforcement, military personnel and civilians firearms, self protection and combat tactics, techniques and procedures.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes. However they are based on time, location and the level of training of the student has and wants.
How did you get started teaching?
Through a desire to serve. I enjoy imparting new information to people. I've instructed in some way all my life.
What types of students have you worked with?
Women, Men, old and young. Good people who want to learn.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently conducted a course for women on self defense, covering Situational Awareness, reading and assessing threat indicators given off by persons meaning harm, theft etc. In this particular class the age range was from 15-70, and the youngest and oldest ladies there were the most knowledge and absorbed the material like human sponges. So positive and added to the class with personal experiences.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Creditials! Where has he or she gained the knowledge they are presenting. Having learned what they teach through course work with no personal experience is ok, however, having practical experience in the application of what they are teaching and periods of trial and error is priceless for a teacher. I am a "learner based" teacher (students engaged in the class, reflecting on their learning process, and learning independently or collaboratively) and many out there tend to be content focused, "here's the material now let's do it".
Be particularly contious of thier safety protocols and pay attention to their personal weapons handling.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are their goal?
What is their current base of knowledge?
How much time and money are they willing to spend?
