Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Each new student gets a notebook tailored to their specific camera and worksheets/handouts for each week. These assist in learning the process of photography from the ground up during our in class lecture/disccussion/hands-on training.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been around photography for the majority of my life. My father was a Nikon award-winning photographer and passed much of his knowledge on to me through the same hands-on training I offer my students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
6 week group class is $200 for the class.
One on one private lessons (an intensified 3 day version of the group class) is $500.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was looking at assisting a friend of mine with her photography, I realized that most photography training online is taught from the perspective that you already know what the instructor is talking about.
I decided to teach photography from the most basic level and work up to advanced techniques in a very short time. This has proved to be a successful method of teaching new and "less technical" photographers.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages (15-70) and from all professions and experience levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Our classes are all unique in that there is a comraderie that happens in the classes. We are now planning "Alumni Photo Walks" with all of our current and former students!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Know what you're getting. If you're looking to start your photography CORRECTLY and get out of "Auto" on your camera, that's where you should start. That's what I offer my students.
