Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Depending on the experience level of the student, the first class is usually an introduction to Painting. This intro would cover basic color theory, blending, shading, highlights and using different typs of brushes and materials.
Next would be a project painting of the students interest. In two hours they will have a completed painting. I supply a simple line drawing that can be transferred to their canvas or paper. I will go through the entire painting step by step and paint along with them.
For more advanced students, i can create one of a kind complex drawing to paint from, supply line drawings, reference photos and other materials to guide them. Sometimes it may take 3 or 4 sessions to complete, as we paint the scene together.
I will also create a class for groups.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Fine Arts, Florida State University
Multiple Awards from participation in juried Art Shows. Multiple contracts for illustrations used on products, sch as Posters, Greeting Cards, School Supplies, Puzzles, and many more.

What types of students have you worked with?
Both begginers and more experienced students, ages from 10 to 70. Classes based on the experience level of the students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently taught a group of older women who raise Monarch Butterflies but had little painting experience. We painted a Monarch resting on a flower. Everyone did a great job, all slightly different in style but each was proud of their work.
