Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Zoom! 1. Talk about expectations and what is a client's want/need with respect to Photography. 2. Talk about what I offer to see if it's a good fit. 3. Start classes.
OR, meet in person and take some photos!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
More than 15 years in this profession. I've shot extensively in weddings, families, headshots, branding, boudoir, some Real Estate and more.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
None.
How did you get started teaching?
I was a Firefighter/Paramedic for 24 years and have an AS Degree, which means I am a Certified Instructor. I taught many new firefighters "the ropes" and the old firefighters refreshers. It was part of my job.
Today, I teach photographers about their cameras, how to navigate a genre, how to price their service and, GENERALLY, how to take photos.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
When I photograph people, one of the comments I hear most is, "I cannot believe that's really me!". I love hearing it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you're a "good fit" with the instructor. You may be expecting something totally different than what the instructor had in mind.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. Are online courses enough or do you need to meet with the person?
2. Are you more comfortable with a male, female or does it matter?
3. What are your expectations from a course?
