About
We are a Part 61 flight school that specializes in tailwheel and aerobatic training. We do that in 4 aircraft: the 7KCAB Citabria, the 8KCAB Super Decathlon, the T6 Texan WWII Fighter trainer, and an extremely rare WWII Fighter, a two-seat P-40 Warhawk.
We can do your private pilots license, commercial SEL, Tailwheel Endorsement and tailwheel proficiency training in the Citabria, and aerobatic and Upset Recovery Training in the Super Decathlon. If you're looking for more advanced training, aerobatics and otherwise, try out or T6 or our P-40 Warhawk!
Every day is different and meeting such a wide range of people with all different skill sets is extremely engaging and rewarding. Seeing the beautiful Florida landscape from the air is extremely enjoyable and teaching tailwheel training is a much more challenging and fulfilling practice than normal tricycle gear aircraft.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Depending on level of knowledge coming in and what certificate/rating or training is sought, in the Citabria we generally begin with ground and a discovery flight to get you, as a student, used to taking the controls. We will then assess your level and make a plan of action to get you to your checkride/endorsement, etc.
If you're coming for T6 or P-40 training, expect ground the first 2-3 days of your checkout course (in the AM generally) as well as 2 flights per day.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a commercial single engine land and single engine sea pilot as well as a commercial multi engine land pilot. I have been a Certified Flight Instructor for over a year now, acruing over 600hours of dual given and 1000 hours total time. I have many years of training in tailwheel aircraft both for my own ratinings as well as a flight instructor as well as many years of aerobatic experience in both general aviation airplanes as well as warbirds.

How did you get started teaching?
I had been a part of the Warbird Adventures company as a volunteer for 6 years and had the opportunity to fly various aircraft during that time. I worked full time in a different profession for 2 years while I worked through all of my certificates and ratings. When I got my flight instructor certificate, the opportunity to teach here came up and it was too good to pass up!
What types of students have you worked with?
All types, from no time up through 20,000 hours. New students up to Delta captains, tailwheel flying brings all sorts of people together. Since we provide such a wide range of training we are afforded the pleasure of meeting a wide range of people.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My sister came to live with me for three months to finish her private pilots license. We accomplished that goal and she's now a tailwheel pilot!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The bond and trust between an instructor and student has to be healthy to be successful. You need to feel comfortable with your instructor in order to perform, as well as get along with them well. Instructors are supposed to be able to teach all different types of students, so if their teaching techniques do not line up with your learning abilities, time to find a new instructor. Remember, you're working for them and they're working for you. It needs to be a symbiotic relationship!
