I teach jazz piano and classical piano using method books, my own exercises and transcriptions, and guided lessons on zoom calls.
Lessons include guidance on repertoire and music theory.
I've played professionally with Sheryl Crow, Glen Miller Big Band, my own personal trios and Steinway & Sons Piano studio in Nashville, TN.
I'm looking forward to accelerating your musical journey!
Learn the basics of piano; be able to play simple tunes at a party within a month of lessons with me; play songs that you love; learn technique and proper artistry with classical or jazz lessons.
For classical: we use a lesson book, Suzuki or Faber; supplemented with my teachings on scales, technique, and classical beginning/whatever-level-you-are repertoire customized for you.
For jazz: You will learn how to see notes as numbers, and transpose anything;
Get an amazing ear training with Joe; you can learn to transcribe songs, bass lines, orchestral scores.
Recognize chord progressions.
I teach students to be balanced between technique and artistry.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Learn the basics of music theory, ear-training, if you want ot be a successful musician. Learn to balance reading music with feeling it and hearing it.
