Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
To begin with a new student, I first offer a consult to establish where they are in their photography journey—whether they are a complete beginner or have some experience. Based on this conversation, I provide study materials or guidance to review before our first lesson. During our first session, I answer any questions, introduce key concepts, and provide hands-on instruction tailored to their learning goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a professional photographer for 12 years, running a boutique creative agency specializing in photography, branding and design. My work has spanned commercial photography, energetic branding, product photography for Amazon sellers, and lifestyle imagery. In addition to shooting for clients, I have extensive experience in photo editing and digital post-processing using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. My background in both creative and technical aspects of photography allows me to teach students not only how to take great photos but also how to refine them in post-production.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes! My pricing varies based on the lesson type and duration. I offer:
One-on-one lessons (virtual or in-person) – Starting at $100 for 2 hours
Editing & post-processing lessons (Lightroom & Photoshop techniques) – Starting at $50 per hour

How did you get started teaching?
Photography has been a passion of mine for years, and I naturally found myself helping friends, family, and clients understand their cameras and editing software. As I received more requests for lessons, I realized how much I enjoy breaking down complex photography concepts in a way that’s easy to understand. Teaching allows me to share my expertise while helping others gain confidence in their creative abilities.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a variety of students, including:
Beginners who just bought their first DSLR and want to get off auto mode
Hobbyists looking to refine their skills in composition, lighting, and editing
Small business owners who want to take better product or branding photos
Aspiring photographers looking to turn their passion into a career
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my favorite recent moments was working with a student who was struggling with manual settings. After a single 2 hour lesson, they had a breakthrough and started shooting confidently in full manual mode. Seeing their excitement when they nailed the perfect shot was incredibly rewarding!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher who not only has experience but also a teaching style that matches your learning preferences. Some instructors are very technical, while others take a more hands-on, practical approach. Ask about their process, lesson structure, and whether they tailor lessons to individual goals. A great teacher will make complex concepts feel approachable and inspire confidence in your skills.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before reaching out, consider:
What specific skills do I want to learn? (e.g., camera settings, composition, editing)
Am I looking for in-person lessons, virtual instruction, or a mix of both?
What is my ultimate goal with photography—personal enjoyment, professional work, or social media content?
