About this pro

I am a professional saxophonist/flutist in central Florida who gigs over 200+ dates a year. I freelance with original bands, wedding and corporate groups. I play in jazz, funk, R&B, reggae, soul, rock, songwriter, classical and world music styles.

I received my A.A. in Music Performance at Valencia College in Orlando (2012) before becoming the music tutor there for one school year from 2012-2013. I then studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and moved back to Florida. As of 2017, I relocated from Winter Park to Lakeland.

I've taught privately and at schools for both young and adult students for many years during this time.

Christian Ryan has an approach to music that is both Fun and rewarding. Whether it has been through discourse on music theory or a guiding me through my first notes on the saxophone, he has a style of explanation that could benefit both new students and seasoned musicians.

I have been working with Christian for several years. Not only is he a top notch musician, he is a role model, even to those of us who have a few years on him. Christian is patient, professional and business savvy with regards to the music scene.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

My process is catered to every student I instruct.  Not one person learns the same exact way, therefore the methods and direction to pursue can vary from student to student.  This is dependent on not only their skill level but in what they desire to learn.  I like to make the learning process enjoyable.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Woodwinds Instructor (Feb 2017 - Present)

Beats & Tunes School of Music

I teach saxophone, flute and clarinet to elementary through high school level students.

Professional Musician (Jun 2010 - Present)

Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Baritone Saxophonist & Flutist with over 1000 gigs to my credit. I currently freelance with over a dozen ensembles/artists and perform in just about every genre. I've been living off performing music since college.

Valencia College

I solely tutored all levels of music theory, ear training, sight singing and class piano for 3 semesters after I graduated Valencia's music program at their east campus in Winter Park for one school year.

Saxophone Instructor (May 2012 - Dec 2012)

ASM Studios

I taught 1/2 hour and hour lessons for beginners up to high school students at their former studio in Avalon Park.

Jazz Composition (DNF) Sep 2013 - Dec 2013
Berklee College of Music
Music Performance A.A. Aug 2010 - May 2013

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I typically charge $40 an hour for lessons done at my home studio, with an extra $10 travel charge to the student's location.  I prefer one hour lessons as it is not only the most beneficial to for learning but it's the most cost effective!  This breaks down as followed:

1 hour - $40 / $50

45 minutes - $30 / $40

30 minutes - $20 / $30

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages and skill levels!

As young as 7 years old and up to 65+.  I've instructed school students from elementary/middle/high school/college as well an adult wanting to learn or get back into music.  It's never too late (or early) to discover the joy of music!
