Matt is my trainer for small group training (4 or less people at a time). He not only tailors the training to your abilities and goals - he also works with you in regards to your nutrition and eating habits. In eight months with Matt and TrYumph I have lost over 45 pounds, 5+ inches off my waist and I feel 10-15 years younger. I would highly recommend Matt and TrYumph to anyone who is serious about wanting to take control of their health and fitness! It won't be easy, but the rewards are amazing!

Went to Coach Matt as an "elderly" 100% novice in the exercise/fitness arena. I was not necessarily looking for weight loss, but definitely wanted to improve my physical appearance for both health and confidence reasons. What occurred, amazingly, was a mental improvement. My sleep issues, depression issues and health issues improved drastically. I am forever grateful and absolutely recommend Matt O'Brien as a coach.

Matt O'Brien and Tryumph functional fitness have been the catalyst for real health change in my life. I've lost 30 lbs in 12 weeks. It's not just the weight loss it is the strength gains and heart health. Matt is so motivational. Great workouts with realistic simple nutritional advice. Thank you Matt and the entire Tryumph fitness team for changing my life and health!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I start with an initial consultation to address goals, health history, exercise background, and nutrition. We then review the different options we have to align goals, availability for training, and budget.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

18+ years experience training clients. BS in Biology (Premed) from the US Air Force Academy. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Certified Personal Trainer. Certified Senior Fitness Specialist.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

We have a variety of options to meet the budget needs of our clients.

How did you get started teaching?

After transforming my own health through proper nutrition and exercise, I started moonlighting as a personal trainer in New York City over 18 years ago. I loved it so much, I left the security of my management job and started TrYumph Fitness in 1998.

What types of students have you worked with?

All ages, abilities, and goals. I've worked with professional athletes and Miss America contestants. Most of my clients are men and women 30 - 60 years of age trying to lose weight and/or improve health.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Helping a client with Type 2 diabetes cut her A1C score in half in 6 weeks and getting to reduce her medications. Priceless!

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for experience in the profession. The best qualifying question you can ask is: how long have you been personal training professionally? Only the trainers passionate about helping others last in this profession.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What health and fitness goals are you truly motivated to accomplish and in what timeframe?
