Warm ups, and stretches. Understanding of muscles used to execute movements. Musical awareness and education and use of props included in classes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Having studied dance and been involved in the performing arts since the 70's, I have danced and performed most of my life. I have cosponsored top dance artists to teach and perform in South Florida for the past 30 years, and I bring many of their techniques to my classes
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depends on the number of students, plus location. Generally speaking I start at $30.00 an hour for group classes and $50.00 an hour for private classes.
How did you get started teaching?
I started by teaching choreography to professional dancers, then began teaching beginners
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginner to professional level
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My 30th annual event featuring Dahlena who is one of my favorite teachers/artists of all time
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would look for someone who works with the body as a whole. Meaning stretching and strenghtening the body so that movements can be done correctly and with more ease. I have studied classical ballet, modern dance, and yoga, so I have a better understanding of the body and how to stretch properly and develop muscles as well.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should ask the level of the class. They should also communicate with the instructor about any injuries or pre-existing conditions a student might have. In short, any concerns they might have. It helps the instructor help them achieve their goals
