About

I have been a teacher in Miami-Dade County for over thirty years, beginning my teaching career at the young age of 21! Teaching has always been my passion and I receive the greatest joy when I see a student finally understand something that they've struggled with in the past. I have taught all grades form Kindergarten thru 8th grade. I am certified Gifted K-12, Media Studies K-12 and Elementary Education K-6.

I earned by Bachelor's degree from Florida International Unviersity in 1988 and my Master's degree from Barry University in 1992. I was awarded Teacher of the Year at my schools in 1994 and again in 2014. I was also awarded Science Teacher of the Year in 1995.

I keep up with current teaching strategies and attend many workshops and classes to keep my certificate up to date as I believe we are all life-long learners.

The individualized instruction model that tutoring provides is an excellent way to increase knowledge of specific subject areas, build academic confidence, self-esteem and motivation as well as target organizational skills. All areas of academics improve when all of the above are focused on through tutoring.

Teaching has always been my passion and I receive the greatest joy when I see a student finally understand something that they've struggled with in the past.

Building a relationship with my students and their family is important to me.

Frequently asked questions

I spend the first session evaluating the students strengths and waeknesses based on the subject area they are requesting for tutoring. We set up folders/notebooks for keeping track of the learning. The first step is to get organized and create a routine that is doable for the student. 

As tutoring progresses, we work on skills being taught in the classroom as well as skills the student (or parents) seek(s) improvement in. I reinforce those skills through meaningful practice, note taking, discussion and spot assessments.  We also focus on future objectives/skills to build capacity and to stay ahead.
