I believe that teaching art is more that just to help someone to learn a technique; is to discover all the wonders we can do with a brush, colors, and a canvas. We all have the capacity to be creative even if we are talented or not.Painting is one of the greatest activities to build up our inner beings and to liberate ourselves from preconceived mindsets that keep us from understanding who we are and how amazing we can be.

The main reason why I’m so passionate about my job is because every student is a universe waiting to be discovered, and sharing with them this magical experience that had transformed my life fills my heart of joy. It’s definitely wonderful and rewarding when you get to see not only the progress in the mechanical part of the learning, but also the personal growth and inner achievements.

I believe art was born in the heart of God, and is the visible expression of all that He is. He projects himself with his creation: beauty, harmony, perfection, and profuse creativity. All this to express his deep love for us. He is the greatest artist of all time.

My artistic name is Clara Velasquez. I am an artist from Colombia, and have been painting for 35 years now. I got married to an American and came to the US around 3 years ago. I live in Lombard, IL.
