About
I started paining approximately 20 years ago my media is oil. I enjoy helping beginner painters get over their intimidation of oil painting. With my instruction we start from the very beginning you will know how to prep the Canvas, mix your colors, and lay your image on the canvas. Within your first two hour session you will have a recognizable pre paining. On your first lesson I will supply all supplies and give you an inventory of supplies that you might want to buy.
I'm always surprised by what people create! And they think they don't have a creative bone in their body.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If the student is new and has never oil painted before I like to start her from the very beginning. 1) pick the subject matter. 2) pick the appropriate canvas, 3) prep the campus with an underpainting. 4) talk about Color mixing in oil paints and choose the correct paints to start the background paining. I try to encourage the student to jump right in and lose the intimidation of the oil painting, I believe in getting your hands dirty so to say! LOL!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I owned an art gallery and framing salon in Louisville Kentucky, I started painting about 20 years ago. I've painted with several instructors, quite a bit on my own. I've always been a very creative person. And would like to share what creativity I have with others. My art has been shown and sold in galleries in Louisville Kentucky.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Your first class will be a private class, you will learn the basics of the oil painting. I supply all supplies for your first class including your canvas of a standard size. Your first class is $60 for a 2 hour session. My open studio classes are $40 per session. Open studio means you come and work on your own I will be available to assist you but not a structured class.
How did you get started teaching?
I was looking for a studio with an open door policy and could not find what I wanted so I thought I would do it myself.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginning students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise the student to sign up for one class at a time intill you decide you like your instructor and are comfortable where you're going to be painting. And not pay big fees upfront.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your level of painting experience, and what you're looking to achieve. Such as, is this for fun or do you want to become a Artist that makes money from your art.
