    Frequently asked questions

The first session will focus on assessing the student's current progress and their education goals. Together we will discuss the student's current study habits and executive functioning skills, outline the student's tutoring goals, and establish a consistent tutoring schedule. Next, I will begin to compile the necessary materials which I share with the student via Google Drive at no additional cost. I also share any appropriate subscription materials at no extra cost.

I have a Master's Degree from Florida International University in Cultural Anthropology with a focus in Statistical Methods and Education. I earned my BA at the University of Miami where I double-majored in Anthropology/Anthropological Linguistics and Art with a minor in French. I have been tutoring students in Standardized Test Prep, AP/IB/Honors courses, French and Spanish, and Undergraduate courses for 10 years. Moreover, both of my parents are educators as well - my father is a professor which has allowed me an inside perspective to the ongoings of the College Admissions process.

Prices for tutoring and academic coaching varies by subject and level. Students may book single sessions at a time or bundles of 4-sessions at a time.

I began teaching as an undergraduate student through the Academic Resources office and as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Miami. Since then, I continued tutoring independently in Miami and while I was living in Paris, France. In 2016, I began tutoring full-time with a tutoring academy. I also teach intensive SAT/ACT test prep classes at the education non-profit Breakthrough Miami. I began my own tutoring business in 2021.

The majority of my students are between 4th grade and 12th grade, though I have worked with younger and older students as well. I coach students in SSAT/ISEE Test Prep, SAT/ACT Test Prep, College Admissions, GRE Test Prep, and all academic courses except for Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry. I have successfully worked with students diagnosed with various learning disabilities, such as ADHD, dyslexia, and disgraphia. I have also successfully worked with students with poor executive funcitoning skills - in fact, I always prioritize time-management skills and organization to help help all my students build strong study habits for life.

During the pandemic shutdowns, I adjusted my methods and continued to successfully support students via virtual learning. Today, I continue to teach the majority of my students online with great success. This has allowed me increased flexibility in my schedule so I am able to teach more students. Teaching online has also allowed me to successfully tutor students from all over the country and I have also successfully tutored international students.

Students need to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all model for teaching and learning. It is crucial that the teacher be a good fit for the student. It is also very important for the teacher to understand the student as an individual and tailor their teaching methods to the student's unique strengths and weaknesses. Students should never feel discouraged, judged, or antagonized by a teacher - they should always feel comfortable approaching their teacher with any concerns and should feel supported, safe, motivated and inspired to do the best that they can.

Students should take some time to reflect and get clear on what their specific goals are and what they believe they need from a teacher, such as help with developing more effective study habits, understanding the material/concepts, or working through performance anxiety when it comes to testing. Many times, students may not know what they need. In this case, students must be open and let their teacher know this so the teacher can help the student identify their needs and provide them the appropriate support for the student to be successful. The student should also reflect on their personal reasons for pursuing their education goals. Tutoring works best when the students themselves have a desire to do better and are open to receiving the help they need.
