About

Im a Professional Artist since 1988, a Teacher, and an Arts in Health Practitioner. I teach multiple art mediums to help people grow their creative skills and have made art with over 5,000 cancer patients, veterans and their caregivers. In addition, I am a Published Researcher who recently added to the scientific evidence that art-making reduces pain and stress. I will be speaking in Rome , Italy fall of 2025 to share my groundbreaking research.

I teach these adult art classes at my beautiful home studio in Geneva, Florida. My small class sizes ensure personal attention. I provide a flexible class schedule. I love the joy of making art with people in my serene studio especially if they have no experience!

    I am by no means a serious professional artist, I paint purely for my own personal pleasure and satisfaction with no desire to sell any of my art works. I took Valeries class with the expectation that it would take years for me to produce paintings that I would be personally proud to have made. I can say that some of my most recent paintings have met this personal challenge.
    While my own preference is to paint realistic dog pictures with
    acrylics, I appreciate the broad multimedia experience that Valerie offers to her students. Valerie has encouraged me on multiple occasions to try other subjects and mediums, which heretofore I have politely declined.
    My opinion of Valerie as a teacher is overwhelmingly positive. She has always offered me personalized instruction on animal painting techniques, which I am quite grateful for. Her class is consistently a pleasurable experience, and I always look forward to Saturday mornings with Valerie.

    I have a Master's degree in Arts in Medicine from the University of Florida.

    OVIEDO $165 for 7 wks Sat 9-11am supplies not included GENEVA $100 per month for 4 Mondays 3-5pm some supplies included.

    I have always taught art to people since 1989.

    I have worked with every population of students.

    I just hung 92 paintings in an Orlando gallery of artworks I taught to cancer patients and their families. They are beautiful.
