I am a master photographer with four decades of professional experience and a published photographic artist with work accepted by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the 1st renown museum to accept photography as an art form.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I discuss their interests in photography (portrait, landscape, etc.)
I find out their desired goals from taking photography lessons.
I try to learn what level they've already achieved in order to best advance their skills.
I ask about their equipment so I am prepared to teach with their equipment in mind.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was in-house photographer for Vivitar Corporation, which was at the time a large camera, lens, flash, etc. manufacturing company. They also put me through additional education at UCLA in photography to supplement my TV/Film degree.
I have four decades of experience in all aspects of photography, to include commercial work for large companies such as Estee Lauder, work for events for companies such as Lotus & Boston Scientific, over a thousand weddings, thousands of portraits, postcards, posters, art, etc.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Now offer basic private photography classes... 3 hours total in 2X1.5 hour sessions presently for $150. Advanced classes are available, but need to be discussed.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in the early 1990's for Adult Education classes given at Martha's Vineyard High School, and have continued doing so through the years at various venues.
[I also taught video production at the Wampanoag Tribe for the State of Massachussetts.]
What types of students have you worked with?
Many levels from teenage kids to adults of all ages. I mentor a former Doctor of Psychology and a retired Boeing 777 pilot for the last several years.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love and have a passion for photography. I think the people I mentioned that I mentor right now show me their gratitude with their return of enthusiasm as they grow as photographers. But I'm fond of seeing each student advance in their photography passions.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I'm a photography teacher, and select a couple of others to meet and talk with. A personal connection is always best.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Possibly you find yourself photographing the same subjects most frequently and this tells you your main interest to which you'd like to improve your knowledge and skills. Possibly you simply want to feel you're in control of your camera and equipment, instead of always being on auto pilot. Knowing thyself as best you can is always an advantage.
