About
I am a flutist and educator living in Orlando, Florida with over 20 years experience teaching in the performing arts. As a flute teacher, my teaching style is supportive and non-competitive while emphasizing efficient practice and audition preparation. I love to help students get their start on the flute, or to help them prepare to be top competitors in auditions and competitions, including regional and state solo ensemble contests, flute festival competitions and masterclasses, youth orchestras, and concerto competitions.
I am on the faculty at Seminole State College of Florida, and enjoy working with flutists of all ages and levels to develop their individual musicianship. In addition to teaching, I am an orchestral musician, performing regularly with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Brevard Symphony Orchestra, and others.
I believe in a holistic approach to music. I hold degrees in dance and music, and as a certified yoga teacher I work with my flute students to develop a greater sense of mind-body awareness. I also love to guide students in figuring out how music will fit into their future careers, whether in music or another field entirely. I am excited to learn what excites you about music!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In our first lesson, we'll do some playing to determine your playing level, then assign lesson materials accordingly. After our first lesson, you can expect to work on tone, technique (scales), method books (or etudes), and solo material in each lesson. We also make sure to plan ahead for any auditions or performances you have coming up.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Master of Music in Flute Performance from Carnegie Mellon University where I studied with Jeanne Baxtresser and Alberto Almarza. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I am also a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).
