Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When we meet I like to ask them some questions about their musical background. It doesn’t mater if they have none, I just like to know where we are starting from. If they have played before, I ask them to play a little something. This also helps me assess where we are starting from. I ask them what their musical goals are. What kind of music they listen to. Who are their favorite artists. This all helps me formulate a plan or direction which we will be going in. Talking with them about how committed they are to practicing is important as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Guitar from the Hartt College of Music, University of Hartford. I also have some graduate credits in Guitar as well from Hartt.
I taught guitar at the college level for over 20 years at the following schools-
